Fire Rips Through Ramona Home, Threatens Vegetation

The house fire was a threat to surrounding vegetation, fire officials said.

RAMONA, CA – A resident escaped injury when a back-country home near Mount Woodson caught fire Monday, officials said.

The blaze erupted shortly after 1 p.m. in the 16000 block of Salida del Sol in Ramona. It took firefighters about 40 minutes to subdue the flames, according to Cal Fire.

The one resident who was in the house at the time was able to get out safely, said Jon Heggie, a fire captain with the state agency.

Though the blaze broke out during a period of heightened weather- related wildfire danger, ground crews and personnel aboard firefighting aircraft were able to keep the flames from spreading to nearby vegetation, Heggie said.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.

RAMONA, CA – A house sparked on fire Monday afternoon in Ramona, threatening nearby vegetation and sending smoke above the area north of Mount Woodson.

The blaze broke out at a home in the 16000 block of Salida del Sol in Ramona. Firefighters extinguished the fire and prevented the flames from spreading into nearby vegetation.

The fire sparked amid strong and gusty Santa Ana winds, low humidity and warm temperatures in the region. A red flag warning was in effect in San Diego County as officials shut off power for several thousand customers as a safety precaution.
