Yesterday on November 9, 2013 , the Royal Alliance Marching Band and Color Guard competed at the Vista Tournament.
The tournament was divided into morning and evening performances. The morning show included 1A-2A bands and the evening show included 3A-6A bands.
The band performed their first complete show.
At the end of the show, large billowy streamers are pulled to create an American Flag, with the band representing the "stars" portion of the flag.
The band received first place with a score of 74.10. The color guard received first place with a score of 77.50. Percussion placed 1st with a score of 66.5 ( this was lower in comparison to last weeks score ; however, scores tend to vary from judges at each competition) . The band was about 2 points away from winning the morning band sweepstakes, and the color guard was 1.5 points away from winning the morning color guard sweepstakes.
The band has one more competition at Ramona Riverside High School next week. As of right now, the band is in the top 10 of bands aiming to go to he SCSBOA championships. This means that if the band stays in the top 10 after next weekend, they will attend the SCSBOA championships on November 23.
