Weather Alert: High Winds Hit San Diego County Ahead of Weekend Storm
Gusty winds will be blowing through San Diego County Friday to introduce an approaching storm.

SAN DIEGO - Gusty winds are expected to develop in parts of San Diego County Friday ahead of a weak storm that will bring light rain to the region.
In the mountains, wind speeds are expected to ramp up to 20 to 30 miles per hour with gusts to 45 mph during the day Friday, according to the National Weather Service. Sustained wind speeds of 30 to 40 mph with gusts of 45 to 55 mph are expected Saturday morning and afternoon, but the strong winds should start to subside Saturday night.
The deserts should see gusts of around 40 mph increase to 50 mph Friday evening, then weaken slightly Saturday morning before ramping back up to about 50 mph Saturday afternoon.

Strong winds are also expected off-shore and a small craft advisory will extend from 11 a.m. Saturday until 2 a.m. Sunday.
Lighter winds of about 15 mph with gusts to 25 mph are expected along the coast and in the valleys.

Rain may start falling as soon as overnight along the coast and in the valleys. Showers are likely in areas other than the deserts Saturday morning, but most will get less than a tenth of an inch of precipitation, according to the NWS.
