From crawfish to Gershwin, and WWII bombers to wine tasting, there's a lot going on for Mother's Day weekend.

There are lots of things you can do to show Mom you care for Mother's Day. Other things are going on as well. You can enjoy a taste of Louisiana and marvel at the brief appearance of historical WWII fighter planes in Ramona and beyond.

- Where/when: Ramona Airport, 2926 Montecito Rd, Ramona, Thursday and Friday.
- Why go: If you're a bit like Snoopy, dreaming of being a flying ace in a classic plane, three rare WWII-era aircraft, a B-17, B-24 and P-51, will be on display in Ramona through noon Friday as part of the “Wings of Freedom” Tour. The public can view them inside and out and see them take off on flights.
- Price: $6-$12; free for WWII vets.
- Where/when: Ramona High School, 1401 Hanson Ln, Ramona, 9 a.m. Saturday.
- Why go: The school's band presents the Bulldog Car Show and Art Show, with food, crafts and entertainment.
- Price: $20-$25 entry fee for cars, free to view.

THE WOMEN BEHIND TWO HBO HITS
- Where/when: Warwick's, 7812 Girard Ave, La Jolla, 7:30 p.m. Thursday and Mysterious Galaxy, 7051 Clairemont Mesa Blvd., San Diego, 5 p.m. Tuesday.
- Why go: , creator of Carrie Bradshaw and the Sex and the City books, appears at Warwick's, while , whose series about the trevails of Sookie Stackhouse spawned True Blood, comes to Mysterious Galaxy.
- Price: Free, but must purchase book for signing.
- Where/when: Spanish Landing Park, Harbor Island Dr. and N Harbor Dr., San Diego, Friday through Sunday.
- Why go: Have a taste for zydeco and crawfish? Come on down for Gator By the Bay, a music fest that will feature more than 80 performances on six stages.
- Price: $25-$75.
- Where/when: MiraCosta College San Elijo campus, 3333 Manchester Ave., Cardiff, 6 a.m. Saturday.
- Why go: Riders join in the Tour de Cure, to benefit the American Diabetes Association. Participants who deal with diabetes wear a red jersey, like the celebrated yellow jersey of Tour de France fame.
- Price: Must raise a minimum of $150.
- Where/when: , 13330 Paseo Del Verano Norte, San Diego, 10 a.m. Saturday and Sunday.
- Why go: Dozens of vendors show off their wares at the Spring Arts and Crafts Faire, just in time for Mother's Day. Enjoy wine tastings and music too.
- Price: Free.
- Where/when: California Center for the Arts, 340 N. Escondido Blvd, Escondido, 8 p.m. Saturday.
- Why go: The Palomar/Pacific Coast Concert Band takes on Gershwin's classic Rhapsody in Blue with performer Peter Gach.
- Price: $8-$12.
- Where/when: Escondido History Center, 321 N. Broadway, Escondido, 11 a.m. Sunday.
- Why go: Take a peek inside five of Escondido's oldest homes – one is nearly 125 years old – at the city's annual Mother's Day Home Tour. Buy tickets in advance at the center or at 329 E. 7th Ave. on the day of the tour.
- Price: $20-$25.
