5 Injured In Suspected DUI Crash In Rancho Bernardo

Five people were injured, including three children, when two SUVs crashed head-on Monday in the Rancho Bernardo area, police said.

SAN DIEGO, CA – A suspected drunken motorist crashed her SUV head-on into another vehicle early Monday while driving her three young daughters through Rancho Bernardo, seriously injuring her children along with herself and the other driver, authorities said.

The 29-year-old mother was driving to the east on the westbound side of Camino del Norte when her Chevrolet Suburban collided with an oncoming Jeep Liberty near Paseo Montanoso about 4:30 a.m., according to San Diego police.

The wreck left the woman's 10-month-old child with life-threatening head trauma, her 2-year-old with facial injuries and her 8-year-old with a broken leg, Officer Dino Delimitros said.
