SAN DIEGO, CA — The Black Mountain Turkey Burner Trail Race will return Saturday, Nov. 28, offering runners a challenging course and a new half marathon distance.
The event will take place at Black Mountain Community Park, 14700 Carmel Valley Road, with 5K, 10K and half marathon races, along with a kids dash.
The race is part of the Endurance Race Series Sunshine Series and serves as an ERS Championship qualifier. Participation is limited to 300 runners.
Organizers describe the Black Mountain course as the series' most technical, featuring steep climbs, rocky terrain and challenging trails. The new half marathon will offer an extended climb toward the summit area.
Race-day registration and check-in will open at 6:30 a.m., followed by the half marathon at 7:30 a.m., the 10K at 7:45 a.m. and the 5K at 8:15 a.m. The kids dash is scheduled for 9:15 a.m.
Registration is open while spots remain. Advance entry fees are listed at $62.97 for the 5K, $79.02 for the 10K and $111.12 for the half marathon. Prices are subject to change, and participants are encouraged to check the organizer's website for the latest rates.
Parking at Black Mountain Community Park is limited, and organizers encourage participants to carpool. Additional parking is available about a half-mile away off Black Mountain Road.
Volunteer opportunities are also available, including assisting with registration, staffing aid stations and serving as course marshals. Volunteers may receive a complimentary entry to a future Endurance Race Series event, subject to organizer requirements.
