Borders Bookstore in Carmel Mountain Added to Closure List
The store was one of 28 stores nationwide added to a list of 200 previously announced closures.
The Borders bookstore in Carmel Mountain Ranch will be closing by the end of May, it was announced Thursday. The bookstore chain previously announced 200 store closures, including two San Diego locations, as it goes through bankruptcy.
The Borders at 11160 Rancho Carmel Dr. is one of 28 new locations added to the closure list, bringing the total of San Diego area store closures tied to the bankruptcy to three. The other two are the Borders in the Gaslamp on 6th Avenue, and an El Cajon store on Fletcher Parkway. Those two locations and most of the others on the list are expected to close by the end of April.
The chain will continue to honor Borders Rewards program benefits and gift cards, officials have said.
