Reading Test Taking Strategies that will help you child feel successful in school.
It is important to study before a test in order to be successful on it. Success is different for many people. Some people think a "C" is successful if they have failed previously, while others wil only accept an "A." There are many ways to be successful and study for school is one of them. What works for one person, doesn't mean it will be effective for the next. Some people use flash cards, others read notes, some can look in the book and just read the text and remember concepts, others need it from lectures, many use Cornell Notes, while many need someone to quiz them repeatedly, and some may even someone to guide them.
Below is a list of effective Reading Test Taking Strategies to try. However, my recommendation is for the strategies to more effective, is having an adult teach them properly. But this should be someone who knows how.

1) Read the titles/subtitles.
2) Carefully study any graphs, charts, or diagrams.

3) Number the paragraphs.
4) Read the questions carefully, circling key words. MAKE SURE YOU UNDERSTAND WHAT THE QUESTION IS ASKING!
5) Read the first question and answer choices to get an idea of what the answer may be. Do not mark your answer choice.
6) Return to the passage and identify the answer, or clues that support the possible answer.
7) Return to the question and eliminate the wrong answers.
8) Mark the correct answer and find the number of the paragraph where the answer/clues are located. Remember, you have to prove your answer is correct!
9) Repeat steps six through nine for the remainder of the questions.
10) Check to make sure all questions are answered reasonably.
