- Another San Diego police officer has died.
Christopher Blakeley, 26, was killed around 9:41 p.m. Wednesday in Palm City when his motorcycle collided with a pick-up truck, according a news release. Blakeley was a three-year veteran of the San Diego Police Department who had been assigned to the Southeastern Division since November 2008.
Witnesses said Blakeley was heading westbound on Main Street "at a high rate of speed and failed to stop for a red light at Hollister Street," according to the release. The motorcycle then crashed into a pick-up truck, causing the truck to roll over. The passengers in the pick-up truck sustained minor injuries.

Blakeley's death compounds what has been a tough several weeks for the department:
- On July 18, Detective Donna Williams, 52, and her 18-year-old daughter Briana at their Rancho Peñasquitos home, allegedly by the detective's 24-year-old son.
- On Aug. 1, Officer David Christopher Hall, 41, at his Clairemont Mesa home. He had been facing multiple charges related to an alleged DUI crash in February.
- On Aug. 7, Officer Jeremy Henwood, 36, after being shot in the head the previous day while he was in his patrol car in City Heights.
