Driver Killed After 2 Vehicles Collide At North Co. Intersection
A pickup rolled multiple times, trapping the motorist, who was partially ejected in the crash, police said.
ESCONDIDO, CA – A 54-year-old Escondido man died Sunday when the 1996 Toyota Tacoma pickup he was driving rolled several times, pinning him underneath, after colliding with a car at an Escondido intersection, according to authorities.
The accident, logged at about 9:35 a.m., occurred as the pickup driver heading south on Quince Street toward Valley Parkway hit a 2003 Mercedes sedan, driven by an Escondido woman, 41, who was enroute west on Valley and also entered the Quince intersection, the Escondido Police Department said.
The Tacoma rolled multiple times after the crash, and the driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was partially ejected from the vehicle, according to police.

"The Tacoma rolled on top of the driver and pinned him between the roadway and the sidewalk," the department said.
After several bystanders and an Escondido officer lifted the Tacoma off the driver, he was transported to Palomar Medical Center where he later died from his injuries, police said.

A female passenger in the Tacoma, who was seat-belted, was extricated from the truck by Escondido Fire Department paramedics, but only suffered minor injuries, officials said.
The Mercedes came to rest after hitting a retaining wall, with the driver uninjured, police said.
Alcohol was not considered a factor in the accident, according to the agency.
