Einstein's Bagel Thins Cut Carbs Down

New thin bagels provide tasty and healthier alternative.

Move over, Dr. Atkins—carbohydrate meals can still be healthy. recently introduced its new Bagel Thin Single, which is only 225 calories with its Light Schmear cream cheese. These breakfast delicatessens are a delicious snack that cut back on carbs.

At Einstein Bros, the company masters the art of making these yeasty goodies with its wide variety of bagels ranging from Spinach Florentine to chocolate chip. From the moment you walk in, Einstein tantalizes your senses with fresh baked goods and the aroma of coffee.

However, bread has a poor reputation for being fattening but really is necessary to give the body energy. And like any food, should only be eaten in moderation.

I’ll admit that carbohydrates, specifically bread, are my guilty pleasure. Whether it’s a buttery Pat & Oscar’s breadstick or the vessel to hold my ham and cheese, bread is the meal of gods (literally).

And so I was a little skeptical when purchasing the new Bagel Thin Singles with Light Schmear because "light" sometimes means the sacrifice of taste.

I purchased the everything bagel, which is loaded with crunchy onion bits, sesame seeds and more. But I wasn’t disappointed: crunchy, followed by the creaminess of the Schmear. The light cream cheese is not as rich, but the taste is negligible in comparison to the regular spread. The Bagel Thin is about one-third the size of a regular bagel, but is still filling and comes in three additional flavors.

The only downside is the lack of choices for Bagel Thins. I could only select between the plain, Honey Whole Wheat, and everything bagel. I’m crossing my fingers for an expansion of the Bagel Thin series.

Einstein’s latest concoction is a worthy purchase, when looking to cut down on carbohydrates. I’ll definitely be back.
