Curious kids  can dig beneath the surface at Los Peñasquitos Canyon Preserve Ranch House for the “Arch in the Park” event.

The San Diego County Archaeological Society and San Diego County Parks and Recreation plan a day of education and fun to introduce young people to the field of archaeology. Kids can excavate, play archaeological games, talk to local archeologists and view active archeological digs.

Families can tour the restored adobe ranch house, Running Grunion, a local educator and Kumeyaay Indian, will perform at 1 p.m. and demonstrations of Native American tool and basketmaking and storytelling will take place throughout the day.
