Are you thrilled to be cruising to the end of a short week or in three-day weekend letdown mode? Glass half empty or half full?

Either way, the goings on from June 2 to June 8 should lighten your mood or keep your already-raised spirits nicely elevated. Take the kids to a fest where they can enjoy strolling at an outdoor fair or leave them at home and listen to a few chilling tales.

CLOSE TO HOME

• Why go: The restaurant's salute to craft beer, Fogg-a-palooza, includes at least three dozen beers from notable breweries, including Ballast Point, Stone Brewing and Karl Strauss. With live music.

• Price: Free entry.

• Where/when: , 16066 Bernardo Heights Pkwy, San Diego, 1 p.m. Saturday.

• Why go: Soroptimist International of Rancho Bernardo and Poway hosts the first “Hats On for High Tea,” in which ladies, perhaps inspired by the recent royal wedding, can try to outdo Princess Beatrice.

• Where/when:  , Templar's Hall, 14134 Midland Rd # A, Poway, 7 p.m. Saturday.

• Why go: In “June Gloom and Other Ghastly Tales,” the Storytellers of San Diego try to scare the stuffing out of you, five months before All Hallows Eve. Recommended for ages 12 and up.
• Price: $10.

• Where/when: Bernardo Center Drive between Bernardo Plaza Court and Lomica Drive, Rancho Bernardo, 10 a.m. Sunday.

• Why go: The San Diego North Chamber of Commerce hosts the 23rd annual RB Alive! Expo with entertainment, a kids zone, a car show and more than 300 booths featuring food, health exhibitors, art and business and neighborhood groups.

• Price: Free.

BEST BETS, A LITTLE FARTHER OUT

• Where/when: Escondido Children's Museum, 380 N. Escondido Blvd, Escondido, and six other North County museums, all of June.

• Why go: Embrace North County Arts & Culture in June and receive half off the entry fee for each of seven museums in Encinitas, Carlsbad, Oceanside and Escondido. Vouchers are good for four people.

• Price: Varies.

• Where/when: Balboa Park, Sixth Avenue and Laurel Street, San Diego, 6 a.m. Sunday.

• Why go: Come out and cheer on the thousands of runners (probably more than a couple of them from your neck of the woods) who have trained and agonized over taking part in the Rock 'n Roll San Diego Marathon. The race starts in Balboa Park and ends at Mission Bay.

• Price: Free for spectators; registration is closed.

• Where/when: , 7812 Girard Ave, La Jolla, 7:30 p.m. Monday.

• Why go: Sebastian Junger, author of the best-selling The Perfect Storm, returns with War, about the time he spent with a U.S. platoon in Afghanistan. He revisits the subject after helping direct the 2010 Oscar-nominated documentary Restrepo. He made the film with journalist Tim Hetherington, who was killed in Libya in April.
