John Henry, a 1-1/2-year-old, 35-pound, male, Hound mix, is pet of the week at your Rancho Coastal Humane Society. He was transferred on a rescue flight from Louisiana through the FOCAS (Friends of County Animal Shelters) program.

He was adopted when he 6-months-old. Now his adopters have returned him.

He’s become a shy dog. John Henry will need confidence building and a family that will not overwhelm him with new people right away.

Special note. November is Adopt a Senior Pet Month. There are lots of advantages to adopting a senior pet:

  • You know what you’re getting.
  • Training is usually easier.
  • Senior pets usually settle into their new homes more quickly.
  • You can match a senior with your activity level.
  • When you adopt a senior pet…you’re a hero!

Adoption fees for senior dogs and cats (seven or more) are only $75 at Rancho Coastal Humane Society. With the “Seniors-For-Seniors” pet adoption program, there’s no fee for a person 60 or older when they adopt a pet that is 7 years or older. Please consider adopting a gently used, recycled, senior pet.

For more information about pet adoption call 760-753-6413, log on to www.sdpets.org, or meet them face to furry face at 389 Requeza Street in Encinitas.
