LaDainian Tomlinson to Retire from the Chargers

The running back will make his official announcement Monday.

Running back LaDainian Tomlinson will officially retire from the NFL Monday, team officials announced Sunday.

Tomlinson, the Chargers first-round draft pick in 2001, plans to sign a contract before the official announcement so he can retire as a Charger. He will speak at the event along with Chargers President Dean Spanos. Current and former team members will also be in attendance.

Tomlinson is the NFL's fifth all-time leading rusher and played for the Chargers in 2001-2009, then spent two seasons with the New York Jets.
