'Life Threatening' Injuries for Motorcyclist in RB Hit-and-Run

A woman is accused of hitting the motorcyclist in her SUV and fleeing the scene.

A motorcyclist is in the hospital with life threatening injuries after a woman who may have been drunk allegedly hit the man with her SUV in Rancho Bernardo and fled the scene, police said.

The male motorcyclist was riding eastbound in the No. 1 lane of West Bernardo Drive near Bernardo Center Drive around 12:30 p.m. Sunday when a woman in a white Chevrolet Blazer hit him from behind, police said.

The woman fled the scene, but witnesses followed her and called the police, who took her into custody. The crash appears to be alcohol-related, police said.

The motorcyclist was taken to the hospital with life threatening injuries. The crash is under investigation.
