Update: Masked Gunman Strikes PQ Circle K Again

Police believe the same man who robbed a Rancho Peñasquitos convenience store on Wednesday was back on Thursday.

Updated 2:42 p.m. Thursday with new suspect description and reward information.

For the second time in two days, an armed robber in a skull mask hit a Rancho Peñasquitos convenience store early Thursday morning, making off with an undisclosed amount of money and cigarettes, police said.

Police believe the suspect in Thursday's robbery is the same man who . The clerk at the store—the same one who was working there during the previous day's robbery—said the suspect's all-black clothing, voice and skull mask appeared to be the same as from Wednesday's robbery, police said.

On Thursday, the suspect came into the Circle K around 4:30 a.m. and lifted his shirt, revealing a black handgun tucked into the waistband, and demanded cash and cigarettes, police said in a news release Thursday afternoon. The clerk gave the suspect cash and about a dozen packs of cigarettes, according to the release. The suspect left southbound on Paseo Montalban.

He is described as a 26- to 30-year-old Hispanic male who is between 5-foot-5-inches and 5-foot-8-inches tall, 180 pounds, wearing a black jacket, black baseball hat and black pants. In both robberies, the suspect wore a skeleton mask with matching black gloves with a skelton outline on the back of the hand, according to the release. Previously, police had said the suspect had been wearing purple gloves in Wednesday's robbery but none in Thursday's.
