Memorial Day Weekend DUI Arrests Down from Last Year
About 18 percent fewer drivers were arrested on suspicion of DUI over the weekend.

About 18 percent fewer drivers were arrested on suspicion of drunken driving over the three-day Memorial Day weekend this year than last year, according to data from the California Highway Patrol.
From 6:01 p.m. Friday to 11:59 p.m. Monday, 68 drivers were arrested on CHP patrolled highways and unincorporated roads. This is down from 83 last year during the same time period. CHP spokesman Officer Jesse Udovich said he could not say why the arrests were down, but noted that the figures tend to fluctuate and cited a rise in DUI arrests in Orange County this year (up 40 percent).
No one was killed on the roads in San Diego County over the weekend, though there were 25 fatalities reported across the state over the three days, according to the CHP.
