Police Recover $3K Stolen Goods; Seek More RB Victims

Police are searching for additional people who may have had their property stolen by an Escondido woman.

An Escondido woman is in jail after police found her with $3,000 of electronic devices reported stolen from a Rancho Bernardo home, police said.

Now investigators are looking for more possible victims.

Latina Skelton, 30, was arrested by Escondido police on Dec. 19 in a vehicle which also contained laptops and cameras reported stolen from a Parvo Court home in Rancho Bernardo on Dec. 17, said Detective Marco Sevilla of the Escondido Police Department.

The San Diego Police Department was notified this week that the recovered property was connected to a reported burglary in Rancho Bernardo, said Officer Susan Steffen, community relations officer for SDPD's Northeastern Division.

Law enforcement agencies search a database when suspected stolen property is found to see if it is connected with another crime through item serial numbers and other identifiers, Steffen said.

In this case, the $3,000 worth of laptops and cameras were connected to a Dec. 17 burglary at a home on the 18100 block of Parvo Court where $20,000 worth of electronics, jewelry and cash were taken. The jewelry and cash are still missing, police said.

Skelton is set to be in court on Jan. 24 on several burglary and drug charges, according to department records. She is being investigated for burglaries across North County including in San Marcos and Valley Center, police said. Sevilla said police zeroed in on Skelton due to descriptions and other information. Sheriff's Department records list Skelton as a 5-foot-5-inch tall white woman with red hair and hazel eyes, weighing 170 pounds.

Escondido police are still trying to determine if other recovered property is connected to Rancho Bernardo burglaries—reported and not—around the time of the Dec. 17 incident. The department can be reached at 760-839-4722, or to contact Detective Marco Sevilla directly during business hours, call 760-839-4794.
