PQ Town Council Preview: Social Media, Fiesta 2012
A local social media consultant will talk about ways to spread the word about your business online.
The Rancho Peñasquitos Town Council is scheduled to meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at the DoubleTree Hotel & Resort, 14455 Peñasquitos Dr., in the Spyglass Room.
Here's a look at what's on the agenda (full agenda attached):
- Building a Buzz Online: Local social media consultant Joann Whetstine, of HowDoIMarketMyBiz.com, will give a presentation, titled "Go Social or Go Home! How Social Media has Changed the Game of Online Marketing for Business." Whetstine, in an email to Patch, said the talk will be an "overview of why a business needs to use Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Blogging and LinkedIn to improve their chance of coming up in natural search results and generating leads for their business."
- Also on the agenda: Reports from political representatives, officers and committees; Fiesta 2012 planning; fundraising ideas.

- Treasurer Gary Pehaim died on Christmas Day, the council and his family recently announced. A public memorial will be held Saturday. .
- The council is looking for 40 people to work on banners related to space and space exploration, in a partnership with the Del Mar Fair. The ideal people to help are those "persons in science, engineering, research, the military, academia, writing, manufacturing, or any other space-related field of expertise or experience."
