RB Loses Heartbreaker; Carlsbad Still on Roll
Injury-plagued Oceanside manages tie with Mission Hills; Vista wins first at expense of El Camino.

Nick Vasko's 25-yard field goal with 4 seconds left gave Mt. Carmel a 30-28 victory over Rancho Bernardo on Friday night, allowing the Sundevils to claim the Rotary Cup that goes to the winner of this district rivalry for just the second time in the last 10 years.
Vasko, also the Sundevils' quarterback, hit several key fourth-down passes in the fourth quarter to sparf the Mt. Carmel comeback. That offset an outstanding performance by RB quarterback Trent Sessions, who completed 17 of 20 passes for 190 yards and a touchdown pass to Jake Arnell. Sessions also dove over from the 1 twice for RB, which falls to 3-3.

Oceanside High senior defensive back Daniel Cedillo intercepted a pass from Mission Hills quarterback Connor Wynn at the 2-yard line with nine seconds to play to preserve No. 2-ranked Oceanside's tie with Mission Hills.
"I don't like ties a lot, but in this case it's almost like a win," said Pirates coach John Carroll, who had six starters out with injuries.

Vista 21, El Camino 14
Toe Amu's 1-yard interception return for a score with 3:30 left in the second quarter gave El Camino a 14-7 lead at the half, but Vista used a stifling defense the rest of the way to post its first win of the season.
The Wildcats (2-3) were held to negative yardage and no first downs in the second half. The Panthers (1-4) were able to avoid opening a season with five losses for the first time since 1990.
