Be glamorous, bold or colorful. A girl’s makeup for prom night is artwork on a canvas, and having pretty makeup that survives the night is a must.

Finding the perfect makeup to complement the girl’s dress and personality is important and going to have it done by a professional can help achieve your desired look. While some salons charge about $30 to $60 for makeup services, many department stores and makeup retailers offer free makeup consultations or makeovers.

If you’re pressed for time, but still want to look like a million dollars, Tran suggests a few tips to make your face radiant.

1.       Primer for face and eyes

Primers and eye shadow base help grip the makeup in place. “It’s important for places like your eyes because that is the place that gets the oiliest,” she said. “And when you’re dancing and sweating it can get messed up. And when you’re taking pictures, a primer is good as it gives a nice base to work with and stays on longer. “

2.       Pick the lips or the eyes

A common mistake is that women try to accentuate both the lips and their eyes, when they should only select one.

“Dramatic eyes require neutral lips and bright lips should have toned-down eye makeup,” Tran said.

How do you choose which one to focus on? The best way to select is by knowing which one you are complimented on most. Do you have Zooey Deschanel blue eyes or Angelina Jolie’s pouty lips?  

3.       Blend, Blend, Blend

Tran says a common mistake is for women to put on a layer of foundation and leave a noticeable makeup line around the jaw. It’s important to have a matte foundation that matches your skin tone, which is essential to making the blending trick work. Eye shadow should also be blended around the eyes to ease the dramatic lines.
