RB resident has held the same job for 36 years

Rancho Bernardo resident Sam Bass recently began his 36th year at radio station KyXy 96.5-FM. He currently holds the longevity record in the San Diego market for continuous work at the same radio station, according to the San Diego Radio Broadcasters Association, an industry coalition trade group of 27 local radio stations that serves as a resource for current information about the local radio industry.

 After moving from Providence, Rhode Island, Bass’ first show at KyXy on March 24, 1978 also marked the station’s first day of its format switch from “beautiful music” to “soft rock.”

No, there’s not much turnover at KyXy. Both Kevin Dean and Sonny West have been at KyXy since 1991.
