RB’s Season Ends with Playoff Loss to Valhalla

Broncos make strong comeback from 20-0 deficit but fall short to end the season at 5-6.

After giving up touchdowns to host Valhalla Hight the first three times the Norsemen had to ball, Rancho Bernardo made Friday night's Division II playoff game interesting but couldn't come all the way back, falling 27-21 to end the season at 5-6.

Broncos quarterback Trent Sessions threw for nearly 250 yards and two touchdowns, hitting on 27 of 36 passes. He connected with Chris Gill from two yards out early in the third quarter to cut Valhalla's lead to 20-7.

The Norsemen (8-3) scored less than two minutes later to take a 27-7 lead, but Sessions drove the Broncos 62 yards in 14 plays, diving in from the 1 with 6:15 left to play.

When RB regained possession at the Valhalla 37 on a Shawn Ng interception, Sessions found Ivy Adair (21 carries for 108 yards) from 5 yards out and the Broncos were within six. But there was less than a minute left when RB got the ball back, and a sack helped the Norsemen run out the clock.

Valhalla (8-3) will take on seven-time defending section champ Oceanside (7-2-1) on Friday on the Pirates' field.
