Here are three of the top stories today in Rancho Bernardo-4s Ranch:

  1. Kathy Schubert looks forward to “Memories at the Museum,” a docent-led interactive discussion about specific art selected from participating museums in Balboa Park. The program is designed for people with mild cognitive disabilities (MCI), and Schubert is one of those people. “Being diagnosed with MCI, I look at all things in a different way now,” Schubert said. “I wasn’t a ‘museum person’ before, but I’ve learned a lot, and this is really the most enjoyable thing I do now.” Participants can use a Zoom link to connect with Alzheimer's patient-support experts and discuss what they are viewing, as well as the feelings and memories they experience. This tour for the mind has also proven popular and beneficial for caregivers. To learn more: Click into parenthesis, then click the link. (Encinitas Advocate)
  2. If you have always wished you could turn your home into a mini restaurant, now you can. You can obtain your application online for "Microenterprise Home Kitchen Operations" through the County of San Diego. In addition to the application, home cooks will need to earn a food safety manager certificate from an approved school. They will need to pass an initial inspection of the kitchen and will need to undergo annual inspections. There are other requirements as well. 3. After 12 years, the Chelsea’s Light Foundation will end operations. The foundation, which raised more than $1 million for college scholarships, was created after the disappearance and tragic death of Chelsea King. “It is truly amazing what the power of an engaged community can accomplish,” wrote Brent King on the Chelsea’s Light Foundation Facebook page. "Today is the right day to announce that Chelsea’s Light Foundation has completed its mission and [we] are in the process of winding up our operations." From our sponsor:
Looking for a healthy alternative to that mid-week glass (or three) of wine?
Our partners at Betera set out to create beverages that were sophisticated and flavorful enough to drink at cocktail hour but with zero hangover risk. (Their motto is “Drink like there’s tomorrow.”) Betera's drinks are designed by a Michelin-starred chef using natural botanicals — they're lightly effervescent, sippable, refreshingly bitter and at home in a stem glass or in a highball on the rocks.

Betera offers three recipes — Rhubarb-Hibiscus, Elderflower-Lime and Ginger-Orange. We’ve tried all three and loved them equally — we recommend the mixed case as a great place to start. Betera has extended their 15 percent discount on first orders to Daily readers, in appreciation for the enthusiastic response so far. Enter Patch15 at checkout and https://bit.ly/TryBetera.
