The 92nd Scripps National Spelling Bee is nearly here. Local whiz-kid Elliott Husseman will be spelling words of which we've never heard.

SAN DIEGO COUNTY, CA – The 92nd annual Scripps National Spelling Bee is nearly here. More than 560 children from all 50 states will vie at the Maryland event for a shot at becoming the nation's preeminent speller, including a local competitor, Elliott Husseman, of Poway, who attends Inspire Charter Middle School.
Elliott, 14 is an 8th grader, who, prior to being a regional spelling-bee winner, rode a bicycle from the Rio Colorado at the Arizona border to Encinitas as part of a local YMCA event.
