SDPD DUI Checkpoint Set for Friday
The San Diego Police Department will be on the lookout for drunken drivers.

The San Diego Police Department is scheduled to conduct a DUI checkpoint at an undisclosed location between 7 p.m. and 3 a.m. Friday.
Drivers who are suspected of being under the influence will be asked to undergo a sobriety test, could be arrested and have their vehicles impounded.
The department has conducted several DUI checkpoints this month, funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety. The California Highway Patrol had special holiday enforcement over the Fourth of July three-day weekend. Over a three-day period, 106 people in San Diego County were arrested on suspicion of DUI, part of more than 1,500 people statewide. Both figures represented an increase over last year's tallies during the same time period.
