Tax Board Outs Delinquent San Diegans
One San Diego couple owes $7.4 million, according to the state Franchise Tax Board.

The California Franchise Tax Board recently issued a list of the "Top 500 Delinquent Taxpayers."
More than a dozen delinquent taxpayers who owe either personal or business income tax are listed with San Diego addresses, including some in the 92128 and 92127 ZIP codes.
The delinquent taxpayers—including a San Diego couple who owe $7.4 million—face a number of new consequences including:

- Publishing the names and titles of corporate officers of listed corporations.
- Publishing professional license information.
- Authorizing FTB to enter into reciprocal agreements with other states to offset refunds and collect tax debt.
- Prohibiting state agencies from entering into contracts with the Top 500.
The FTB began issuing the list of top offenders in 2007 and has collected nearly $177 million, according to a press release. However, the list excludes tax liabilities under appeal, in litigation, or in bankruptcy proceedings. The list will be updated again in April.
