The Kebab Shop Opens in Rancho Bernardo

Tired of fast food? A new restaurant that opened in Rancho Bernardo on Monday may be what you're looking for.

Billed as "unique, delicious and a healthier alternative to regular fast-food," The Kebab Shop opened its sixth San Diego location on Monday in the Vons shopping center.

“Our combination of only the freshest and most authentic ingredients is what locals love and crave," co-owner Tony Farmand said in a recent statement announcing the new location.

The Rancho Bernardo restaurant is at 11980 Bernardo Plaza Dr. and will be open from 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., Monday through Saturday. On Sundays, it will be open from 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.

A look at some of the offerings:

• "Döner kebabs, originally from Turkey, are offered in spiced lamb, marinated chicken or falafel with a mix of fresh vegetables, a creamy garlic yogurt sauce and homemade spicy sauce."
• Shawarma sandwiches on rolls.
• Shish kebab plates.
• Rotisserie plates.
• Iskender kebab.
• Saffron rice.
• Fresh salads, such as the Bebe Caprese salad, Tabouli and Algerian Eggplant salad.

The Kebab Shop also has locations in Mira Mesa, Encinitas, Mission Valley, Ninth Avenue downtown and Little Italy.
