VIDEO: Car Crash Busts Fire Hydrant in Rancho Bernardo

Water shot high into the air for more than an hour.

A single vehicle crashed into a fire hydrant on West Bernardo Drive near Aguamiel Road, causing water to shoot high into the air early Friday morning.

Police said a woman inside the vehicle was OK.

The crash was first reported around 1:40 a.m. Friday, according to a dispatcher.

More than an hour later, as police waited for the water department to arrive, water continued to shoot high into the air like a geyser just south of Rancho Bernardo Community Park.

A water department employee arrived at around 2:53 a.m. and the water was turned off about 40 minutes later.
