Woman Fatally Struck While Crossing Rancho Bernardo Street
A woman was struck and killed by a pickup truck while crossing a street in Rancho Bernardo, police said Tuesday.

RANCHO BERNARDO, CA – A woman was struck and killed by a pickup truck while crossing a Rancho Bernardo street, police said Tuesday.
The victim, a woman believed to be in her 30s, was crossing Bernardo Heights Parkway southbound at Calle Pueblito at about 6 p.m. Monday when she was struck by a 63-year-old woman driving a 2004 Toyota pickup, San Diego police Officer John Buttle said.
The victim had crossed the westbound lanes of the roadway but left the center island before she was struck by the pickup in the left lane of eastbound Bernardo Heights Parkway, Buttle said.

The victim sustained "major internal injuries" and was taken to a hospital, where she died while undergoing emergency surgery, Buttle said.
The victim has not been identified, Buttle said. The police department's traffic division was investigating the crash.
