55MPH Gusts, Chance Of Thunderstorms In RSM Tuesday

Rancho Santa Margarita residents can expect blustery winds and rain this week, the National Weather Service reported.

RANCHO SANTA MARGARITA, CA — As strong Santa Ana winds gain traction in Southern California over the week, the National Weather Service issued a High Wind Warning starting Tuesday morning and ending Tuesday night.

Rancho Santa Margarita residents can expect northeast winds ranging from 25 to 35 miles per hour, with gusts up to 55 miles per hour expected.

The High Wind Warning will remain in place until 10 p.m. Tuesday. The warning affects all of Orange County, San Bernardino County Mountains, San Gorgonio Pass (near Banning), Santa Ana Mountains and Foothills, Riverside County Mountains, San Bernardino and the Inland Empire.

RSM residents can also expect the return of rain showers and a chance of thunderstorms through Tuesday and lasting until Wednesday, NWS reported.

Residents should be prepared for damaging winds blowing over trees and power lines, and should take down any outdoor items that may blow away in the wind.

"Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles," The service reported. "Use caution if you must drive."
