LAKE FOREST, CA — The Orange County community is rallying around a local child after her father was killed in a violent wrong-way crash in Lake Forest this week.

The crash killed 39-year-old Joseph Kyle Massey of Rancho Santa Margarita, according to the Orange County Coroner. His young daughter was left in critical condition.

"This unbearable loss comes just a year after Lily and her family lost her beloved mother, Heather Massey — the cherished former band director at Walker Junior High School in La Palma — to kidney cancer," supports wrote on GiveButter, a fundraising website. "Now, facing an unimaginable road ahead, Lily is fighting to recover without her parents by her side."

According to the GiveButter page, the third-grader's grandparents are currently managing her medical care and looking after her, supporting her long-term recovery and future.

Money raised on the GiveButter page will go directly toward benefiting Lily's recovery:

"Lily has shown incredible strength, but her family cannot do this alone," family members wrote on GiveButter. "Any contribution—no matter the size—and every share of this page makes a meaningful difference."
