Blood Urgently Needed In RSM: Blood Drives Near You

Rancho Santa Margarita residents who donate blood during the month of May will have the chance to win a trip to Seattle.

RANCHO SANTA MARGARITA, CA — As the seasons continue to change, the American Red Cross's need for donated blood remains the same.

"Type O negative blood donors are especially needed right now," an American Red Cross news release said. "Type O negative is the universal blood type and what emergency room personnel reach for when there is no time to determine a patient's blood type, in the most serious situations."

Residents who donate blood from May 1 through May 19 will receive a $10 e-gift card to a merchant of choice, the news release said.

In addition, throughout the entire month of May, blood donors will automatically be entered for a chance to win a trip for two to the 2023 MLB All-Star Game in Seattle, Washington.

Residents who donate blood between May 20 and May 31 will receive a free and exclusive Red Cross beach towel.

In Rancho Santa Margarita, residents can schedule to make an appointment to donate blood here.

  • May 15, noon to 6 p.m., The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 30522 Via Con Dios.
  • May 16, 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., AFC Urgent Care, 27522 Antonio Pkwy Suite P3.
  • May 19, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Rancho Santa Margarita Library, 30902 La Promesa.
