Home Chimney Fire In RSM Gets Knocked Out By OC Firefighters

RANCHO SANTA MARGARITA, CA — Orange County firefighters made quick work of knocking down a residential fire on Via Allegre in Rancho Santa Margarita on Sunday night.

The fire was reported at 7:24 p.m., after the residents of the home called 911 to report that they were using their fireplace when fire blew out the top and exterior of the chimney.

All residents of the home were evacuated without injury, authorities said.

"As the weather gets colder, keep in mind that heating is the second leading cause of home fires," An OCFA spokesperson wrote on Facebook. "It is recommended to have chimneys inspected and cleaned by a professional regularly."
