Residents can expect cold weather, rain and cloud coverage this week as wintry weather hits the state of California.
RANCHO SANTA MARGARITA, CA — Rancho Santa Margarita residents can expect wintry weather, chilly temperatures and some rain this week, the National Weather Service reported.
Overnight temperatures are expected to drop significantly in parts of the Southland this week, while a storm system is expected to bring a chance of rain to the region by week's end.
In Rancho Santa Margarita, residents can expect 60-degree temperatures, light winds and a chance of rain come Wednesday.

By Thursday, the chance of rain will rise to 30 percent and the temperatures will likely drop into the '50s.
Friday will have the highest chance of rain showers, the National Weather Service said. Locally heavy rainfall will be possible Friday morning, and residents can expect stormy weather and spotty rainfall throughout the day.

The spotty rainfall is projected to continue through the weekend, the service said.
The stormy conditions are expected to clear up by Monday, with sunny skies and cool temperatures in the low '60s predicted to hit Rancho Santa Margarita.
