Crash Kills 1, Traps A Second In Wreckage On OC Canyon Road

At least one person was pronounced dead at the scene of the fatal crash after it was reported on Santiago Canyon Road.

SILVERADO, CA — At least one person died Wednesday morning after a crash in Silverado that involved at least two people and an unknown amount of cars.

The crash was reported at 7:38 a.m. on Santiago Canyon Road near Ridgetop Road in Silverado, according to the California Highway Patrol.

While it was not immediately clear how many cars were involved in the crash, authorities reported that the crash was in the middle of the street and prompted officials to close both sides of Santiago Canyon Road.

One person was also reported dead by the California Highway Patrol, and their identity was not immediately released.

According to the California Highway Patrol's report log, one person was declared dead upon officer's arriving, and a second person was trapped inside of the wreckage.

It was not immediately clear if both people died as a result of the crash.

The incident prompted officials to close both sides of Santiago Canyon Road starting at 8:25 a.m. By 8:50 a.m., authorities were still at the scene investigating.
