Cross Country: Trabuco Hills, San Clemente Win D-I State Crowns

Trabuco Hills boys and San Clemente girls win Division I championships in the state meet in Fresno. St. Margaret's wins a Division V title behind Billy Gaudreau, who captured a second individual championship. JSerra girls take Division IVtitle.

Taking the finish line en masse and scoring in bulk, Trabuco Hills won its second state championship in five years Saturday when its boys' cross country team finished first in the California Division I State Meet.

San Clemente, with a sophomore and two freshmen among the top five, won the girls' race. St. Margaret's Billy Gaudreau won his second consecutive state title as the Tartans won the Division V championship.

Although that was impressive, it was hard to beat the collective performance of Trabuco Hills. The five scoring runners for the Mustangs finished in the top 35, with three of them in the top 16 in the 3.1-mile event at Woodward Park in Fresno.
