Ditch The Documents In RSM At Recycling Event: Save The Date
Rancho Santa Margarita residents can drop off their documents or e-waste at the event to have it securely destroyed for free.
RANCHO SANTA MARGARITA, CA — Do you have sensitive documents that you've been needing to shred?
Mark your calendars, Rancho Santa Margarita. On April 1, the city is hosting a shredding event for all residents and businesses.
At the city-held event, residents can bring their old documents and electronic waste and have them recycled or destroyed free of charge.

Residents and businesses in RSM can bring up to ten standard-size file boxes worth of paper records for immediate shredding. Documents should be free of binders, paperclips, plastic sleeves and metal butterfly clips.
Electronic waste, or e-waste, includes items such as old cell phones, computers, printers, microwaves and other small appliances. To participate in the event, no registration is required — though the city emphasizes that the drive operates on a first-come, first-serve basis.

The city released this list of e-waste items that will be accepted at the event:
- Monitors
- Televisions
- Keyboards/mouses
- LCD monitors
- Cables & cords
- Computers
- Printers/hard drives
- Shredders
- Cell phones
- Power supplies
- Telephones
- Laptops
The city will not accept sharps, batteries, smoke detectors or fluorescent tubes.
The free e-waste and shredding event takes place on Saturday April 1 from 8 a.m. to noon at Applied Medical's R100 building parking lot, 29977 Avenida de las Banderas.
