Earthquake Rattles Orange County Awake

An early morning quake rattled most of South OC awake Thursday and was felt across three counties. Did you feel it?

TRABUCO CANYON, CA — A 4.0 magnitude earthquake rattled much of Southern Orange County, Los Angeles County and southwest Riverside county awake last night. It hit just after 2 a.m. on Thursday. At the time of this report, there was no indication of damage to any buildings, or injury.

The U.S. Geological survey reported the quake's epicenter was located just 8 miles north of Trabuco Canyon, and 9 miles north of Rancho Santa Margarita. It was felt as far as Diamond Bar, Corona and Oceanside. No tsunami alert was given following this quake. USGS has said that the quake was near the Elsinore Fault, but not on it.
