RANCHO SANTA MARGARITA, CA — It's fall in south Orange County, and we'll take those leaf-change pictures where we can get them!

This photo, taken by Patch's resident nature photographer Angela Madsen, shows the glorious light captured in a reaching tree.

"I took this photo At O'Neill regional Park in South Orange County," she told us. "I took a beautiful path there, and the timing was just right."

Lucky for Madsen, she always has her camera around and snapped this photo at the precise right moment.

Angela Madsen photographs fall.

The photo speaks of summer turning into fall, as the eye drifts from the brilliant emerald leaves and blue sky behind reaching branches. Attention then diverts to the focal point, the pile of rose, golds, and burnt orange leaves now resting on the roots.

With this photo, the negative space showing the blue skies, the white of clouds outlined by a reaching limb, we love Madsen's eye for those moments that take your breath away.

"I love the beautiful golden light hitting the tree," she said. "It's such a perfect time of year to capture fall colors as much as possible here."
