RANCHO SANTA MARGARITA, CA β€” Is it time to un-deck your halls? Chances are your Christmas tree now lacks its luster, is shedding needles, or looks more like a dead stick β€” creating a fire hazard in your home.

One of the trickiest parts about wrapping up the holiday season can be figuring out what to do with your Christmas tree. Luckily, the City of Rancho Santa Margarita offers recycling options. But first, always make sure your tree is stripped of lights, tinsel, garlands, ornaments and stands.

Flocked Christmas trees may be collected but not recycled, while artificial trees will not be collected at all. If your tree is over 6 feet, they must be cut in half.
