LAUSD Teachers to get 10% Pay Hike Over 3 years

Teachers claimed they had not received a pay increase in 8 years ignoring automatic "Step and Column Salary Increases" of 3.5% - 4% a year

Late Friday Night LAUSD reached a tentative agreement with LAUSD teachers to structure a 10% Pay Increase over the next three years. The union is claiming that the District has sufficient funds to cover both the salary increases, Step and Column Salary increases and the projected $1 billion per year in increased CalSTRS pension contributions because of the Governor’s LCFF law.

The ability for large school districts to pay increased salaries and increased pension contributions without making substantial cuts to students services is doubtful- but the question of LAUSD’s leagal authority to grant these raises has not been questioned.
