OC Deputies Seek 2nd Suspect In Rancho Santa Margarita Assault

One suspect is in custody in connection with a stabbing that took place in Arroyo Vista Park in Rancho Santa Margarita, authorities say.

RANCHO SANTA MARGARITA, CA — Authorities are searching for a suspect in connection with an assault that left two people injured in Rancho Santa Margarita, the Orange County Sheriff's Department reported on Twitter Friday.

The assault was reported near Arroyo Vista Park by a concerned samaritan Thursday night, the OCSD said. When deputies arrived to the scene, they discovered one victim had been stabbed with an unknown object and another victim had been "assaulted" with a baseball bat.

The two suspects ran from the scene shortly before authorities arrived, and a search involving the OCSD helicopter, patrol and K-9 teams ensued.

One suspect was found and arrested for assault with a deadly weapon, authorities said. Deputies continue to search for the second suspect involved in the assault, and a spokesperson with the OCSD said there is no ongoing threat to the Rancho Santa Margarita community.

The victims were treated before being moved to a local hospital, the OCSD said. They are expected to recover from their wounds.
