Rancho Santa Margarita Police Beat: Nov. 19-20

From investigating suspicious behavior to stolen cars, here is your Rancho Santa Margarita Sheriff's Department at work.

RANCHO SANTA MARGARITA, CA — Orange County Sheriff's Department deputies reminded residents about the National Child Safety and Protection Month, a nationwide effort to promote awareness to hazards our kids face every day. Tips from the National Network of Child Care to prevent injury or death include:

  • Use safety gates.
  • Prepare for bedtime: Remove all soft, fluffy and loose bedding from the baby’s sleep area.
  • Be mindful of plants.
  • Update your exterior
  • Keep things tidy
  • Install door knob covers as a means to keep little hands from opening doors.
  • Be cautious of choking hazards
  • Brace your furniture.
  • Set hot water heaters no higher than 120 degrees F

Monday:

8:15 a.m.: Officers discovered a stolen vehicle on the 0 block of Inverary.

9:15 a.m.: Deputies responded to a non-injury traffic collision in the area of Santa Margarita Parkway and Alicia Parkway.

10:30 a.m.: Officers investigated an audible burglary alarm in the area of Pas Narcicssi.

10:45 a.m.: A disturbance was reported in the area of Calle Sonoma and Via Cuidado.

1:30 p.m.: Two reports of suspicious people in vehicles were taken in the area of Arroyo Vista and Via Bonita, then again on the 0 Block of Via Joaquin, an hour later.

7:30 - 10 p.m..: Traffic stops were conducted at Santa Margarita Parkway at Avenida De Las Banderas; off Alicia Parkway and San Benito; at Santa Margarita Parkway and Galivan; at Esperanza Road and Avenida De Las Banderas.

Tuesday:

12:30 a.m.: Officers were on the scene of a vandalism in progress at the 0 block of Pas Vespertino.

6:30 a.m.: Officers took a vandalism report on the 0 block of Linaria.

7 a.m.: Rancho Santa Margarita Sheriff's deputies responded to a traffic collision on Antonio Parkway and Tijeras Creek.

12 p.m.: Officers took a Found Property report at the 30400 block of Avenida De Las Flores.

12:15 p.m.: A non injury traffic collision report was taken at Antonio Parkway and La Promesa.

12:30 p.m.: Rancho Santa Margarita deputies took a report of battery on the 0 block of Via Amistosa.

12:45 p.m.: An abandoned vehicle was reported on the 21200 block of Eastglen Drive.

2:45 p.m.: Officers conduced a welfare check on the 30400 block of Avenida De Las Flores.
