Capistrano Valley boys basketball and Corona del Mar girls' water polo assume top spots in the polls.
Fresh off Corona del Mar's victory over Newport Harbor in the Santa Barbara Tournament of Champions, the Sea Queens and the Sailors are ranked 1-2 in the CIF-Southern Section girls' water polo rankings this week. A week ago, they were 3-4.
Capistrano Valley moved into the top position in this week's Division 1A boys' basketball rankings following a pair of losses by Orange Lutheran (one of them to JSerra), which is without Gabe York (appendicitis). Mission Viejo, which has won 18 games in a row, is ranked No. 3. Capo plays host to Mission tonight in a huge South Coast League showdown.
