Rankings: CIF-SS Polls for Week of Jan. 23
South Orange County continues to be major player, holding the top three spots in two different girls' sports.

Orange County girls' athletic programs in Patch cities have it all over the boys right now. In two different winter sports, local teams fill the top three spots in the section rankings that were released by the Southern Section.
Particularly impressive is Corona del Mar.
In girls' soccer, Aliso Niguel, Corona del Mar and San Clemente held firm at 1-2-3.

The same was true in girls' water polo, where Corona del Mar, Newport Harbor and Los Alamitos hold the top spots.
Capistrano Valley was ranked ahead of Mission Viejo in boys' basketball, and when the two programs—ranked first and third in Division 1A—played last week, Capo Valley scored a 46-43 victory to end Mission's 18-game winning streak. This Friday, Capo Valley has another tough game—at fourth-ranked El Toro.

Boys' basketball: Capistrano Valley, Mission Viejo and El Toro are 1-3-4 in Division 1A as El Toro moves up a spot. Santa Margarita is No. 4 in Division 3A and Corona del Mar is No. 6.
Girls' basketball: El Toro is No. 3 in Division 1A. Laguna Hills is No. 4 in Division 3AA. St. Margaret's is No. 5 in Division 5AA.
Boys' soccer: San Clemente dropped a spot, to No. 3, in Division 1; JSerra, Aliso Niguel and Santa Margarita are 8-9-10.
Girls' soccer: Aliso Niguel, Corona del Mar and San Clemente are ranked 1-2-3 in Division 1, and Dana Hills is 6th; Mission Viejo dropped out after being No. 6 a week ago. St. Margaret's remains No. 2 in Division 6 behind Hemet.
Girls' water polo: Corona del Mar, Newport Harbor and Los Alamitos are 1-2-3 in Division 1, and Laguna Beach is No. 6 as there is no change from the previous week. San Clemente is tied with Agoura at No. 3, and El Toro is No. 5, in Division 2. Dana Hills is No. 3 in Division 4.
Wrestling: No new poll was released, so the most highly regarded Patch-affiliated team is Los Alamitos at No. 9 in Division 1.
