RSM City Council To Mull $63K Contract With Chamber Of Commerce

If approved, the Rancho Santa Margarita Chamber of Commerce would take a more active role in providing services to the city.

RANCHO SANTA MARGARITA, CA — Rancho Santa Margarita City Council members may decide to increase the amount of money the city pays the Chamber of Commerce for support, services and events at its Wednesday meeting.

If the $63,508 contract is approved, the Rancho Santa Margarita Chamber of Commerce, which hosts the annual Rancho Family Fest, pledged to play a more active role in local business attraction and retention.

One of the programs meant to attract local businesses to the city is a Shop and Dine Local Program intended to bolster good relationships between the city, local businesses and the overall community, according to city documents.

According to the staff report, of the $63,508 in contracted funding, roughly $38,000 would go toward holding the Rancho Family Fest and $25,000 would go toward funding a Shop and Dine Local Program. Roughly $3,600 of the funding would go toward small business support, according to reports.

The proposed contract will be discussed at 7 p.m. on Wednesday at the Rancho Santa Margarita City Council meeting, 22112 El Paseo.
