RSM Named 2206 CA Fire Risk Reduction Community; See How Residents Benefit

RANCHO SANTA MARGARITA, CA — The City of Rancho Santa Margarita was recognized as a 2026 Fire Risk Reduction Community, city officials said this week.

"The designation reflects years of collaboration between the city, Orange County Fire Authority, OC Sheriff's Department, RSM CERT, Community Associations of Rancho, Firewise USA communities and residents working together to reduce wildfire risk," the city said in a statement.

According to officials, the designation directly benefits residents in the following ways:

• Residents may be eligible for insurance discounts through California's Safer from Wildfires program.
• Increased eligibility for CAL FIRE wildfire prevention and mitigation grants.
• Continued investment in wildfire preparedness, public education and community resilience.

Rancho Santa Margarita residents looking to receive discounts for the city's new designation were encouraged to contact their insurance provider to determine eligibility.
