Smell Smoke In Rancho Santa Margarita?

RANCHO SANTA MARGARITA, CA — An active brush fire was burning in Rancho Santa Margarita on the 241 at Santa Margarita Parkway, Orange County Fire Authority reported Wednesday.

OCFA Units were enroute to a reported vegetation fire at just before 5:45 p.m.

The brush fire was burning a 20 by 20 square of acreage in heavy fuels, with a slow rate of spread according to the OCFA information officer. Firefighters stopped the forward progress of the burn by 6 p.m.

"OCFA units are transitioning into overhaul of the burn area," OCFA reported, mopping up the blaze.

There was no word as to the cause of the fire. Investigators are on scene.
